A Valentine’s Day Blog – To The One(s) That I Love

Happy Valentine’s Day!

 Chocolate Hearts and Pink Roses

I woke up this morning to a table covered in Valentine’s Day Cards and Gifts in my Kitchen.  Our little family likes to express ourselves with love and appreciation on days like this.  My thoughts then turned to my characters in Audubon Springs.  I’m sure that even you non-writers have heard the old adage, write what you know.  In my heroines I have a writer, a reader (who owns bookstore – a secret dream of mine!), and a Singer/Songwriter/Actress.  In short these women embody all aspects of me, who I was, who I am, and who I want to be, with a few (or many!) embellishments.  These are women that I’d love to meet for a cup of coffee or glass of wine.  We’d have so much to talk and laugh about.

Then I thought of their men, the three brothers who, while unique, share similar characteristics.  Their overlapping characteristics are traits of the man I married.  Once they fall in love, it is forever.  They have a protective, joyous love for their women and children.  They are dedicated family men, who love the outdoors, love to work with their hands, and go fishing whenever they can.  They would never argue with one another unless it was over who loved mom best.

If there is an overriding theme to my Contemporary Romances, it is home and family.  Without the love and support of my little family, I would not have the time, inclination, or inspiration to pursue my dreams as a writer.

So, on this day, I would like to say, THANK YOU to the one(s) that I love!
